Mystery shrouds the death of Rewati Singh (75), wife of Hukum Singh, MLA from Kairana and deputy leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. Her body was recovered from the bedroom of their residence in Gandhi Colony in Muzaffarnagar on Saturday morning. According to police, Ms. Singh was killed late on Friday night.  

Though the real cause of the suffering was a leather belt, which had stuck inside the lungs of the patient, the doctors earlier treated him for tuberculosis. A 22-year-old student was suffering from severe chest pain since 2006 and the doctors wrongly treated him for tuberculosis. After getting treated at several hospitals, now the boy was admitted at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital where the doctors detected the real cause of suffering.

In 2006, a vehicle had run over him and he received wounds on the left side of his abdomen. Back home after being discharged from hospital, he repeatedly showed symptoms of chest pain and fever   -VK Srivastava

The euro gained 0.7% against the dollar as an index of executive and consumer sentiment in Europe increased to 101.3 from 99 in June signaling improving confidence in the European economic outlook. In a rare surgery performed in Apollo hospital here, an eight-inch-long leather belt was removed from the chest of a young man after it had lain there undetected for four years, a doctor said Friday. Chana futures were marginally up in afternoon trade on Wednesday on some buying interest at lower levels, supported by a decline in daily arrivals in the spot market, analysts said. "Market is consolidating in the range of 2,270-2,320 rupees (August contract). Demand for chana dal may improve in coming days. Any downside should be taken as a good buying opportunity," said Anuj Agarwal, analyst at Nirmal Bang Commodities.

Uttar Pradesh Minister Nand Gopal Gupta 'Nandi' and The Indian Express Senior Reporter Vijay Pratap Singh were among seven persons injured when a bomb planted in a moped exploded outside the residence of Nandi in Allahabad this morning. Doctors said Rakesh Malviya, among those injured, later died while Nandi, Singh and Sanjay, the personal security officer of the minister, were in critical condition. Late tonight, Nandi was flown to the SGPGI in Lucknow in a special plane.
